What is the Encapsulation Process?
The crawl space encapsulation process is perhaps one of the most thorough repair solutions we at Innovative Basement Authority have to offer. It is made up of four crucial components: waterproofing with an interior drainage system and a sump pump, vapor barrier, vent covers, and a dehumidifier. They will all repair different moisture issues to ensure that your crawl space will stay completely dry no matter what. The interior drainage system and sump pump work together to protect your Sioux Falls home from any large floods, instead collecting and redirecting that water to a more appropriate drainage site. The vapor barrier is another layer of protection that will block out additional moisture and mold and mildew spores from your crawl space, as well as make it more difficult for pests to get inside. It is covered in an antimicrobial additive that will deter mold or mildew from growing on the barrier as well.
After repairs are implemented, our experts will then work to seal up any open vents. Building contractors created these open vents because they once believed that they would circulate dry air around the crawl space. Of course, these vents only allow more moisture, mold or mildew spores, and pests to infest this space, meaning that they invite more problems than they intended to prevent. Innovative Basement Authority’s sturdy plastic vent covers can totally seal away these open vents to ensure that it will stay dry no matter what. These covers will not blow off in any harsh storms, either.
Before we seal off the crawl space for good, however, we will install a dehumidifier first. This machine will capture any humidity that manages to get inside and filter it back out again. Because your HVAC system may also be installed within this space, you might feel that the air around your home is a lot fresher, too.
