Is It Important to Install More Than One Sump Pump?

Installing your sump pump can be a complicated procedure, but it’s even more complicated when you realize you might need to install more than one. There are a number of reasons you might want to install more than one sump pump in your crawl space or basement, and these are just a few of those reasons.

  • When You Have a Large Basement or Crawl Space

If you have an especially large basement or crawl space, you may run into a problem with water overflow coming in from a variety of places. This can overwhelm your sump pump, especially if the sump pump doesn’t have a very significant capacity. An extra sump pump can help with this problem.

  • When You Regularly Have Issues with Water Overflow

Even if you have a relatively small basement or crawl space, it’s possible to live in an area where water overflow is extremely prominent and flooding is a regular problem. If this is something that you often deal with, you might want to consider adding a second sump pump to your basement or crawl space so you can avoid flooding.

  • As an Added Protection

Even if you don’t think you’re going to have problems with too much water coming into your crawl space or basement, a second sump pump still gives some extra protection. Essentially, if your primary sump pump starts malfunctioning due to power problems or another malfunction, the secondary sump pump can kick in.
