Father-son team Ross and Keith Johnson started Innovative Basement Authority (IBA) in 2005. Keith led the growth of the business and expanded to multiple offices in Minnesota and North Dakota. In 2019, IBA partnered with Groundworks, the nation’s leading and fastest-growing foundation and water management solutions company to invest more into their business and their employees. Jacob Kinsella Just completed my annual check on my sump pump and discharge system that was installed by groundwork’s. I cannot say enough, good about how thorough and professional he conducts The inspection. He gave me information straightforward and was more than willing to follow up with any concerns I might have. He even made certain I was able to contact him if I had any concerns. In a time it is challenging to find trustworthy and professional staff, Jacob’s reliability and trustworthiness was greatly appreciated. He has completed this inspection for the last three years and I continue to be impressed!

I would highly recommend Innovative Basement Authority. They did an excellent job encapsulating a crawl space in my home. First, my estimate appointment with Chris was thorough and smooth. Chris answered all of my questions and explained everything his team would do during install. Then, Marcus, Logan and Goody did a wonderful job with install. They were on time and efficient, friendly and very respectful of my home. I would definitely work with them again!

Sinan was very professional during his visit with us while he described what it would cost and what the solution would be. He was very honest and genuine about what problems he saw and offered solutions for them (like extending gutters away from the house and explaining how water could be getting in.) It did not make us feel pressured at all to get it done and actually helped us understand the scope of the problem. Overall it was a great experience!

Today Bryce Jacovetti from Groundworks came to look at a crack in the foundation of my house that was leaking water. He discovered that the water was actually coming from a city water main that broke causing water to go under the foundation. He was very helpful and worked with me to get the HOA maintenance folks over to try to shut off the water. The city maintenance folks have to come over to shut the water off because it's the city water line that is broken. In the meantime, he helped me with what are the documentation and evidence gathering to do for insurance purposes. I'm very grateful he was here to diagnose and walk me through this. Thanks again Bryce!

On 12/4/25 the Rush City crew was out for 2 days to remove pavers & a ramp from the garage then dig up floor to make a trench to install anchors to the back of the brick wall which was bowed. Each of the crew (Austin F., Andrew W., RJ, Brandon & Dakota) was friendly & the foreman gave us constant updates on arrival times, access to garage, etc. We would highly recommend them for future projects.

They were respectful as they moved from the basement to their truck covering the floor and minimizing the dust. The job was scheduled for two day but the completed it in one.

Anthony, Daniel, and Abdul – Innovative Basement Authority (Groundworks) were very easy to work with and completed the job a full day earlier than expected. The work itself appears to have been done well. One concern was dust control. We had planned to remove items in adjacent rooms; however we were told it wasn’t necessary. Unfortunately, there was more dust than expected. Overall, good work, but better dust containment would improve the experience.
